You Count – World Heart Day

world-heart-daySeptember 29 is World Heart Day, a day that the World Heart Federation hopes will raise awareness about cardiovascular disease. This year, they are hoping for “everyone to understand what they can do to fuel their hearts and power their lives. Your heart is at the heart of your health. And it’s easy to give it the care it deserves.”

Cardiovascular disease, which includes heart disease and stroke, claims 17.5 million lives every year. But a few lifestyle changes – like switching to a healthier diet and being more physically active – can help reduce the incidence of premature deaths caused by this disease.

Are you interested in helping to spread the word about World Heart Day and how to fuel your heart and power your life? Here are a few ideas:

  • Share a Healthy Heart Selfie on social media #worldheartday
  • Volunteer at an event organized by members and partners of the World Heart Federation.
  • Organize your own event – walks, runs, sporting events, concerts, public talks and screenings, etc.
  • Commit to living a heart healthy lifestyle yourself and share your efforts with friends and family.
