Top 3 Right Now: Rickey’s Top 3 Recent Reads

This week we’re featuring a list of Rickey’s favorite recently-read books. Rickey is our teen services guru at our Granite Falls community library, so be sure to stop by and high five him if you’ve also enjoyed any of these titles!

Here’s Rickey with his Sister at the Chihuly Museum in Seattle!

So, Rickey, what are your top 3 titles right now?

“Feeder by Patrick Weekes

Global sea levels have risen drastically, yet no one can remember how it happened, and to make matters even more interesting, interdimensional monsters have begun to prey on humans. The only hope for humanity seems to be Lori, her companion monster, and a group of unlikely teens who have mysteriously developed superpowers…This book mixes superhero action with classics science fiction, making for a truly unique, exciting story!

We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson

This powerful read focuses on the stigma surrounding mental health in our society, and the struggles LGBTQ youth must often overcome. “We are the Ants” provides an uplifting and at times cute story, but does so in a way that makes you question what is real, and what is only imagined.

Winterfolk by Janel Kolby

I was immediately drawn to this book since it is set in Seattle, and addresses an issue we are familiar with in this region: Homelessness. Featuring a group of teens experiencing homelessness, and facing the loss of the tent encampment in which they live, readers will experience the true struggles of the characters, and receive a raw look at the challenges of experiencing homelessness as a teen.”

Thank you, Rickey, for the most excellent suggestions!

Stay tuned next week when Judi from our Darrington community library will give us her top 3 audiobooks set on an island!
