Top 3 Right Now: Marta from Marysville

This week we are featuring Marta, the Teen Librarian from our Marysville branch.

Whoa, that’s quite the Scabble board you’ve got there, Marta; looks like a blast!

So, Marta, what have you read lately that you’d put in your top 3?
Flying Lessons & Other Storiesedited by Ellen Oh
Because it’s got all the awesome authors in one book and it starts and ends with two fabulous basketball stories. The first by Matt de la Peña and last story by Walter Dean Myers. And Kwame Alexander’s story about a teen who might be able to read minds will make you smile.
Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza
They called Rhee the Rose of the Galaxy but just before she takes her place on the throne at age 16, she must fight an assassin, and run for her life, pretending to be dead. Aly is accused of her murder when he’s the one person who has seen proof that she is alive. This book is filled with cliff-hangers just like I love.
Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by David Lubar
The first year at high school is never easy but Scott tell us how it can be funny, too. While this title is a bit older, I missed it the first time around. I loved it and its sequel Sophomores and Other Oxymorons.
Excellent choices, Marta – thank you for sharing!

If you would like to be featured on our T3RN, email and include:

  • The titles of the three books that teens would enjoy (they can be published for any age group).
  • One or two sentences describing what it is about each book that has you in its grip right now.
  • A photo of yourself.  We like wacky!
