Top 3 Right Now: Jessica’s YA Romance Picks

This week we’re featuring a top 3 list of YA Romance titles, as curated by Jessica, the Teen Librarian at our Oak Harbor community library.  Hopefully you’re all ready for some swoon-worthy reads, because these are fantastic books!

Take it away, Jessica!

“I’ll admit it – I’m a sucker for a heart-fluttering, sweet, funny, and authentic love story. Books that make me stay up late, flying through the pages to make sure that the quirky, funny, wonderfully real girl gets right guy, and hug it to my chest when I’m finished. The world can be a dark place, but these three reads are perfect for when you need to believe in love again.

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
This incredible second novel by Becky Albertalli was one of my favorite reads of the last year. It’s an uplifting, fun, diverse, and inclusive look at first love. I want to be friends with Molly, and her family is fantastic. You’ll finish this, and immediately want to re-read it.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
Told over the course of one day in New York City, it explores the chance meeting and budding connection between Natasha and Daniel – two strangers from entirely different worlds. It’s a unique exploration of family, expectation, and fate. I loved Natasha’s fierceness and Daniel’s poet soul.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
This is an adorable, contemporary, geeky, multi-cultural love story that had me smiling from beginning to end. While being swept away by the relationship between two endearing and realistic characters, I also learned a lot about Indian culture, which was awesome.

Bonus: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Best. Romance. Ever. ”

Excellent selections, Jessica!
