Monday, August 8th

National Hula Hoop Celebration 1:00 PM – Camano Island Library

Celebrate World Hoop Day on August 8. Make your own Hula Hoop at the library. We will provide polyethylene tubing and you can cover them with plastic tape, or glow-in-the dark, patterned, or sparkling tape. We will have friendly competitions for fun prizes throughout the afternoon as well as refreshments! All program supplies generously provided by Camano Island Library Friends.

Tuesday, August 9th

Explore Summer: Minecraft 2:00 PM – Freeland Library

Work together or on your own to build the best Minecraft structure. Space is limited, and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Explore Summer Teen Gaming: Super Smash Bros. 3:30 PM – Granite Falls Library

Drop in and play Super Smash Brothers on Wii U. Teens can get their game on and grow new technology skills.


Teen Gaming 3:30 PM – Monroe Library

Teens! Drop in for some video games on our Wii and Wii U! Mario Cart, Smash Brothers, Nintendoland and more! We’ve got board and card games too. Supported by Friends of the Monroe Library.

Junior Monroe Wednesday Writers 4:30 PM – Monroe Library

Calling all teen writers! Looking for a supportive place to share your writing? Join the Junior Monroe Wednesday Writers and get feedback and guidance from your peers, a published author, and library staff. All writers in grades 6-12 are welcome.

Thursday, August 11th

Mehndi Madness for Teens 3:00 PM – Coupeville Library

Give yourself a temporary henna tattoo! Learn how you can use a simple cone applicator to make lovely henna designs. Krysteen Lomonaco of Mehndi Madness will teach you everything you need to know. Henna tattoos are safe and will fade in 2 to 4 weeks. For ages 9 and up. Limited to 12 attendees, please register. This program is funded by Friends of the Coupeville Library.

Friday, August 12th

Minecraft Challenge 11:00 AM – Camano Island Library

Work together or on your own to build the best Minecraft structure. Sign up with a friend or meet new Minecraft friends to build a structure with. Registration required and space is limited.

Book Swap! 2:00 PM – Lynnwood Library

Recycle books you have at home. 1. Bring gently used books to share, 2. Search the books others brought, 3. Choose new treasures to take home, 4. Enjoy snacks. For children and teens.

Saturday, August 13th

Explore Summer: Giant Game Day 11:00 AM – Brier Library

Get your game on at the library with familiar board games made life-size! We’ll have something fun for everyone with giant Jenga, Yahtzee, Boggle, and a giant matching game. Supported by Friends of the Brier Library.

Mother/Daughter Book Club 2:00 PM – Mill Creek Library

A lively book discussion group for teen girls with a female adult that meets the second Saturday of each month from 2-3 p.m. Hot cocoa and cookies provided by the Friends of the Mill Creek Library. In August we will discuss “The Ranger’s Apprentice” by John Flanagan. For grades 6-9. Copies of the book to keep are available at the Mill Creek Library while supplies last.
