This Week at the Library

With the long dark nights upon us, wouldn’t it be great to have something fun to add a little light to your life?  If you visit the Marysville library tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 pm, you can make your own LED color-changing light.  Supplies are limited – please register in advance.

There are several opportunities for spooky fun in the libraries this week.

Now Showing – Arlington Library, October 29th @ 12:00 pm

School’s Out Early! Bring your friends, have some popcorn and enjoy  “Hocus Pocus,” one of the great movies you can check out from your library’s film collection!

FrankenToys: Make a Monster! – Mukilteo Library, October 30th @ 3:30 pm

Recombine old, broken, or discarded toys to make something new, ugly, scary, or just plain weird. Invent, tinker, and create in this fun hands-on workshop. Snacks will be provided, and prizes will be awarded in several categories.

Teen Movie – Granite Falls Library, October 30th @ 3:30 pm

Bring your friends, have some popcorn, and enjoy Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” one of the great movies you can check out from the Sno-Isle film collection.

Green Screen Drop-In: the Halloween Edition – Marysville Library, October 31st @ 2:00 pm

Have you ever wondered how they get those special effects in the movies? Wear a costume and join us in the Creative Tech Center for this 2-hour drop-in session to learn how to use our new green screen equipment. We will demonstrate how to use a green screen with Adobe Photoshop and iMovie. Bring a USB or flash drive and any items you want to photograph or film with our equipment.

Maybe you’d like something a little less creepy?

Right to Risk – with Kathleen Jo Ryan – Oak Harbor Library, October 28th @ 5:30 pm

Right to Risk chronicles the adventures of eight individuals – all of whom live with significant disabilities – on a 15 day, 225-mile whitewater rafting trip through Arizona’s Grand Canyon. Watch this inspiring film and meet the author and filmmaker.

Stenciled Pillows – Freeland Library, October 29th @ 1:00 pm

On this Early Release day, use freezer paper to create your own design and then stencil that on a small pillow. Add some lavender or chamomile to your pillow for peaceful dreams.  Please register in advance.

Junior Monroe Wednesday Writers – Monroe Library, October 29th @ 4:30 pm

Attention teen writers! For support and guidance, join the Junior Monroe Wednesday Writers!

WHEW!  That wraps up October.  Check back next week for more fun events at your library.
