This Week at the Library

A few more days of Teen Tech Month this week, and then April 1st, where I promise all of our programs are not just cruel hoaxes.

Monday, March 30th

Teen SparkFun (Arduino) – 4:00 PM Lynnwood Library

Are you interested in building fun toys, automated artwork, or robots? Don’t know where you can go to get started? Come to the Lynnwood library and join us for a fun afternoon using SparkFun Arduino microcontrollers and learn basic electronics, circuitry, and the basic use of open-sourced software. The project includes the use of sensors, lights, and LCD displays to interact with the circuits you will build. space is limited and available first-come, first served.

Teen Gaming – 3:00 PM Monroe Library

Teens! Drop in for some video games! Mario Cart, Smash Brothers, Nintendoland and more! Provided by the Friends of the Monroe Library.

Work Ready Teens: Do Your Selfies Say “Hire Me?” – 3:30 PM Granite Falls

Did you know many employers now check Facebook and other social media when hiring? While wild and crazy pics may get you a ton of likes, sometimes they can lose you a job opportunity! Join us for a free class on shaping and maintaining your online presence, courtesy of Worksource Washington. Pick up tips and tricks for keeping your personal stuff private, while developing a digital brand attractive to future employers. Learn how you can use social media as a launching pad for your career goals!

Interviewing Prep with WorkSource Youth – 6:00 PM Sultan Library

Interviewing Prep will teach you interviewing techniques. You will learn about the importance of a simple hand shake and making eye contact. You will learn about how to answer interview questions competently and become a calm, well put together interviewee. This program is the last in a series of three workforce readiness workshops offered by WorkSource Youth and supported by the Friends of the Sultan Library. Ages 16-24.

Wednesday, April 1st

Teen Advisory Group – 3:30 PM Marysville Library

No fooling! Come join your fellow teens as we plan teen activities at the library for spring and summer. We’ll meet in the Small Meeting Room to eat snacks and talk about the books and movies you enjoy and plan activities for the spring and summer. Supported by The Friends of the Marysville Library. Please reserve your spot.

Write Wednesday – 3:30 PM Snohomish Library

Join us for Write Wednesday! Bring your own writing to share or come and listen to what others are working on. Strengthen your writing and communications skills. All writers grades 6-12 are welcome.

Calling all teen writers! Looking for a supportive place to share your writing? Join the Junior Monroe Wednesday Writers and get feedback and guidance from your peers, a published author and library staff. All writers in grades 6-12 are welcome.

Join us at the library for a Super Smash Bros. Tournament. Find out just how skilled you are in the arena of electronic battle in our bracket tournament. Funded by Friends of the Monroe Library.

Thursday, April 2nd

After School Gaming: Wii & Rock Band – 3:30 Edmonds Library

Connect with other teens and test your skills with video and board games. Bonus: free pizza and snacks!

Teen Advisory Board – 7:00 PM Mukilteo Library

Meet new people, discuss teen concerns, help develop library programs, and talk about books – all while earning volunteer credits and having fun! Snacks provided.
