Readers’ Corner: Immigrants, Refugees, & Human Rights Abuses

This week’s featured booklist is about a new one, and it’s about a serious and timely topic: Immigrants, Refugees, and Human Rights Abuses.

All over the world, teens like you are struggling for basic rights, like food, education, and freedom. Grab one of these books from the Sno-Isle Libraries catalog and learn about what’s going on in the world and how you might be able to help.

It’s a long list, so if you need somewhere to start, I recommend I Am Malala, by teenage Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai. She tells the story of her fight for education in Pakistan, going up against the Taliban, even after they shoot her in the head. Truly compelling, inspiring, and informative.

Happy reading!
