Volunteer for ‘Hogwarts Summer School’ at Granite Falls Library

An attendee at the 2017 Granite Falls Library Hogwarts Summer School session gets some help trying on the sorting hat.

Not everyone thinks of summer as a time to go to school.

Unless it’s Hogwarts Summer School, which will be in session from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, July 28 at the Granite Falls Library, 815 E Galena St., Granite Falls.

And this year, a select few even have an opportunity to join the Hogwarts staff.

“We need four to five volunteers for Friday and 10-12 volunteers for Saturday,” said Michelle Callihan, Granite Falls managing librarian.

Friday volunteers are needed from 2-6 p.m. and will help set up the various activities. On Saturday, volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. They will help with crowd control, food service, staff the activity tables and information booth and assist with clean-up.

Prospective volunteers should be age 14 and older and express interest by sending an email to Christine Stansfield at cstansfield@sno-isle.org by July 26.

This is the second year for the library creating a Hogwarts Summer School. The full day of enchanting Harry Potter-related activities includes making wands and letting the sorting hat place you into your house. There also will be a special Defense Against the Dark Arts Demonstration with “auror” and magician, Brian Ledbetter. Harry Potter-themed costumes are encouraged.
