On Oct. 10, Lynnwood Library will showcase the hardware and software that are available free to the public in its Creative Tech Center. Those tools can be used for everything from making movies to converting old VHS tapes to digital video, from printing resumes to learning computer programming.

TechtoberFest will take place 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, 19200 44th Ave. W.

Activities will include:

  • an iMac photo booth to showcase the green screen, iMacs, and Adobe Creative Suite;
  • a demonstration of how to use the digital media conversion lab;
  • a Microsoft Office template tutorial to show how customers can use templates for projects such as resumes, letters, and flyers;
  • informational displays of the tabletop photography studio and children's iPads;
  • Makey Makey and Ozobots for tweens and teens to learn about conductivity and programming
  • a scavenger hunt, trivia, and QR codes to provide additional information about the digital literacy resources available online  to all Sno-Isle Libraries customers.

Participants will be given USB drives if they finish four of five core activities (iMac Photo Booth, Media Conversion Station demo, Microsoft Office template tutorial, scavenger hunt, and trivia). People will be given a raffle ticket for each core activity completed, each ticket good for a chance to win a $25 Best Buy gift card.
