Community dialogues about early childhood, part of the national Raising of America campaign, will be presented on Oct. 7 at Camano Island Library and Oct. 27 at Mountlake Terrace Library. Both programs will start at 6:30 p.m.
The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation is a media/public engagement project that aims to reframe the way Americans look at early child health and development.
The library events, hosted by the Snohomish County Early Learning Coalition will start with a 30-minute excerpt from the documentary series “Raising of America.” The five-part series will be broadcast on PBS this fall. It will explore such questions as: Why are so many children in America faring so poorly? What are the consequences for the nation’s future? How might we, as a nation, do better? What is it like to be a parent today? And what policies and structures help or hinder the raising of healthy, happy and compassionate children?
