June is “Bathroom Reading” Month

What makes a good bathroom read? Something that you can pick up, peruse, and put down, no bookmark needed.  (I suppose waterproofing would be a bonus.) There is a bathroom book for just about any mood: from trivia, world records, “believe it or not” books, to jokes & riddles, cartoon collections and short humorous essays, to 1-minute mysteries, “flash fiction“, haiku, and daily meditations, there are many books that are “put-down-able” in a good way.

Celebrate with cupcakes! Or not.

If you’re more of a “get in, get ‘er done, and get out” kind of guy/gal, and not one to spend more time than necessary on the “necessary“, consider these books for those long family car trips. Read aloud some funny, thoughtful, or unbelievable passages and the miles will fly by. Hey, it might get the kids unplugged from their devices for a few minutes of real human interaction!

Here are some ideas to get you started:

(If you love trivia, try using some of these terms in your catalog search:  “curiosities and wonders,” “questions and answers, “common fallacies,” “miscellanea,”, and my personal favorite, “vade-mecums.”)

Please share your favorite bathroom books and car trip books in a comment.  Thanks!

Excellent choice, Adam, and a treat for all ages. Just don’t get carried away and overstay your visit to the loo.
