Calling all Cormoran Strike Fans

Waiting for Lethal White?

Are you checking your library account everyday to see how much longer until you can read or listen to Lethal White, the latest Cormoran Strike novel? Want something you can grab and read in the meantime? Then we just might have you covered with these suggestions.

By now, it’s no secret that Robert Galbraith is a pseudonym for J.K. Rowling. So it’s unsurprising that one of the things Cormoran Strike fans like is the compelling sleuth duo of Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott. Rowling/Galbraith is a wizard (sorry) at creating characters who feel real, relatable, and complex. We devour the series to follow Strike’s and Robin’s personal lives as well as solve the mysteries.

As for mysteries, these are old school. Deduction, observation and a keen attention to detail play a bigger role than car chases and gun fights. Even though Strike served in the Afghanistan war, his amputated leg prevents him from falling into the usual tough guy trope so often seen in thrillers and mysteries featuring military veteran detectives . When physical exertion is part of the investigation, pain from his prosthesis usually eventually hobbles him. Instead, like Holmes and Watson or detectives from the Golden Age, Strike and Robin question, research, theorize and think through the crime.

Another quality of the Strike books is the strong sense of place. Rich details transport us to London and its environs, catching us up in the suspenseful atmosphere.

So, while you wait to get your hands on Lethal White, consider exploring these series that also focus on character, old school detection, suspense and setting.

Are you a Cormoran Strike fan? What books and or movies would you suggest?
