Welcome to the September Awards Round-up! A combination of literary and media awards were handed out this month. Here is a brief overview of these awards and their winners.

The Emmys

The Emmy Awards recognize excellence in various areas of television and emerging media. They are selected by the sisters organizations Television Academy, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. This year, the 68th Annual Emmys were awarded in Los Angeles on September 18. The winners are too numerous to list here, but you will find a complete list of nominees and winners at their website. Here are just some of the night’s major award winners.

The Man Booker Shortlist

The Man Booker Prize for Fiction is awarded each year to an original novel written in the English language. This is such an esteemed literary prize that is significant to earn even a nomination on the longlist and shortlist. Here are the titles that made this year’s shortlist, announced on September 13. The overall winner will be selected in October.

The American Poet Prizes

The Academy of American Poets announced the 2016 winners of the American Poets Prizes. These awards are among the oldest and most generous prizes for American poets, wherever they may be in their careers. Here are the lucky winners!

The Anthony Awards

The World Mystery Convention confers the Anthony Awards each fall at Bouchercon, a convention for fans of mystery writing. The 2016 winners were presented in New Orleans on Friday, Sept 16, and here they are!

Happy Fall, and stay tuned for October’s Award Round-up, which will include the Man Booker Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature.
